Community Mieszkowice

Community Mieszkowice is situated in the southern part of Zachodniopomorskie Province. The surface of our community is 239 km2. Our neighbours on the north are: Community Cedynia and Community Moryń and on the north-east Community Chojna. On the south Community Mieszkowice borders Community Boleszkowice and on the south-east we border Community Dębno.

In an area of Community Mieszkowice we have a wealth of boulders and rocks like granites...
They were used in the Middle Ages for building roads and structures ( like defensive wall which we have in Mieszkowice until today ). The most important value of natural in Community Mieszkowice are woods administrated by a Forest Inspectorate ( almost 48% of all community surface are woods ). In an area of woods we have tourist objects like a campsite, parkings, beauty spots and tourist trails which are a great attraction.

---------- „National Memory Trail” which commemorates crossing the Odra River in 1945:

-Czelin:
 There is an obelisk which commemorates first border stone sank into the ground in 1945 (February 27th) by soldiers of  the Sixth Self-Reliant Engineering Battalion of the Polish Armed Forces.

-Gozdowice:
 It is a place where crossing the Odra River in 1945 has been started.
 There is a museum, stone wall with a combat zone map of the Polish Armed Forces, a sapper monument, and a place where was an observation and command post of the II Artillery Regiment.


-Stare Łysogórki:
 There is a rock with an anchor and a plaque which commemorates crossing of the Odra River in 1945.

-War Cemetery in Siekierki:
 There is about 2000 tombs of soldiers and war memorial made by Sławomir Lewiński.


In Community Mieszkowice we have more historic monuments and each of these places it’s worth seeing:

In Mieszkowice:
-defensive walls from the thirteenth/fourteenth century
-a church from the twelfth/fourteenth century,
-a town hall from the nineteenth century,
-a tower from the nineteenth century.

In Community Mieszkowice:
-historic churches from the thirteenth/fourteenth century in Czelin, Gozdowice and Goszków,
-churches from the beginning of the XVIII century in Kłosów, Kurzycko, Zielin, Troszyn
